FAQs

The answers to your burning questions — boot scootin', the Society way.

Is it all country music?

Country & Western and Americana do the heavy lifting, but I'm no purist. Disco, pop, classic rock and the odd cheeky Y2K bop all make an appearance. The only rule: it has to be a banger.

What should I wear?

Whatever you can move (and sweat) in. Western flair is very welcome but never required — our dancers embrace it to wildly varying degrees. Cowboy boots are great, and so are Docs, Blundstones, RMs or similar; sneakers work too (just a touch sticky on some floors). Fair warning: it can get steamy, so dress light.

How hard are the dances?

A good mix. Some are dead easy, some are a little trickier — that way beginners aren't overwhelmed and the regulars still have something to sink their teeth into.

I'm brand new — what happens in a class?

Welcome! I break down a handful of dances slowly, step by step, before we add the music. It's all about having a crack, not nailing it perfectly. Top tip: stand somewhere in the middle of the room so you can follow the dancers around you — we turn the dances to face all four walls.

Can I have a drink?

Absolutely — there's generally a bar at the venues I teach at. Cans are best out on the dancefloor, open glasses are better kept to the side, and there are plenty of drink breaks to grab a sip. A water bottle is always a good idea too.

Can I bring the kids?

This one's really for the grown-ups — the vibe (and often the bar) suits an adult crowd, so best to leave the littlies at home for these ones. Keen to get the whole family scootin'? A private event is the way to go — get in touch.

Where do I find out what's on?

Right here on the What's On page, and over on my Instagram — that's where new sessions, pop-ups and events land first.

Can I get a refund?

No refunds or swaps, sorry — but tickets are transferable, so if you can't make it you're welcome to pass yours on to a mate.

Can I buy a gift voucher?

You sure can! Grab a golden ticket gift voucher below and I'll sort one out for you.

How do I get my merch?

Tees are $45 and the ribbed tank is $55. I bring orders along to class for free pick-up, or you can add $12 postage to have yours sent. Just fill in the merch order form and I'll text you to confirm and sort out payment.
